Private Parking Spot

I really dig the fact that I can pretty much guarantee myself a spot to park my bike (pictured) by simply leaving my U-lock hanging on the last bend of this bike rack. (It's a straight-line distance of about twenty feet from my office window.) I also now dig the fact that the beautiful tree in front of the rack does a wonderful job of keeping the rain off my bike.

It'll keep the sun off too, so the handles won't blister your palms.

Lucky duck. Even on a rainy day, I need a crowbar to wedge my bike into the rack at work. Maybe it's all the hippies who work for Obama's campaign office in our building (crazy hippies!). I'll try to remember to grab a photo of the rack and post it for comparison's sake.

I wear biking gloves in the spring, summer, and fall, and ski gloves in the winter. My delicate digits can't be troubled to touch those dirty rubber grips. (Plus wearing gloves makes you look Serious and makes it easier to fix the occasional thrown chain or other problem.)
