Big city manhole cover

Custom manhole cover, originally uploaded by Limz Akimbo.

I don't suspect many parks are big enough to mint their own manhole covers -- as a Midwestern kid, I was always fascinated by the "Neenah Foundry" manhole covers I saw everywhere. I actually spotted this one in Rogers Park (a neighborhood), about 5 or 6 miles from Lincoln Park (the park that abuts the neighborhood of the same name).

I always noticed the Neenah Foundry factor too - everywhere in my hometown.

I have a whole series of manhole photographs from my art school days. the designs on some of them are quite incredible. I am a graphic/surface designer now and you have made me wonder if I should tack down those old photos for some inspiration. One of my blogs is dedicated to my artwork.
